Alexis Sanchez visa problem is worked out. He is off to America with his mates at Man U.
The Chilean forward was unable to gain a visa to travel to Los Angeles with the rest of the United squad earlier this week because of problems relating to a conviction for tax fraud in Spain.
Sanchez has been training alone at United’s Carrington base in Manchester, but an Instagram post after his fitness session on Thursday hinted that he would soon be jetting out, a fact now confirmed by the club.
Posting a selfie with his trainer, Sanchez wrote: ‘The last training in Manchester’ before writing ‘Soon’ and the American flag.
Although Sanchez won’t play any part in United’s first tour match – against Club America in the early hours of Friday morning – he could return for their second game against San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday.
Jose Mourinho’s side then play Milan in Pasadena on July 25, Liverpool in Michigan on July 28 and Real Madrid in Miami on July 30 in the International Champions Cup.
The United manager admitted on Wednesday that not being able to work with Sanchez, not to mention the United players still on holiday after the World Cup, made him ‘worried’ about the start of the season.
Asked when Sanchez could fly out to the US, the United boss said: ‘I don’t know. It’s really bad, really sad. It’s not good for him, for me for the team, for the organisation of the (International Champions) cup. It’s not good for anyone.
But there is no-one to blame, the club is making the effort I have to respect the US authorities in their process of visas, but hopefully he join us later because it could be important to work with (Anthony) Martial, Alexis and (Juan) Mata who are the players we have in attack for start of the season.
‘No (Romelu) Lukaku, (Jesse) Lingard, Marcus Rashford, so if Alexis is not working with us for 20 days it would be really bad.’
United’s Premier League campaign begins on Friday August 10th with a home fixture against Leicester City, while they also travel to Germany for the friendly against Bayern Munich five days before that.
